Steve Bruce says trips to Norwich City are always special occasions for him.

Bruce takes his Hull City side to Carrow Road for a big Barclays Premier League game on Saturday with the manager targeting a positive result.

However, when taking his place in the away dug-out shortly before kick-off and surveying the scene, Bruce’s mind will no doubt briefly flash back to the 1980s when he enjoyed a successful spell in the Canaries’ defence, a spell he remembers fondly.

“I was thinking about it earlier and it’s remarkable that it’s now 30 years since I signed for Norwich as a player,” said Bruce.

“It seems like a lifetime ago, but Norwich gave me the chance to have the career that I have and I’ll always respect them for that.

“I had a wonderful three-and-a-half years there as a young player and I had my family there.

“Norwich is one of those places that I always enjoy going back to because it’s a very good club and a well-run club that has done remarkably well in the last few years.”
