James Chester can’t wait to pull on a Hull City shirt in the Barclays Premier League ahead of what he views as a hugely exciting season for the club.
Chester has committed himself to the Tigers for the next three years after agreeing a new three-year contract on Wednesday and the defender is now looking forward to focussing on his first season of top flight football.
“It’s nice to get the paperwork out of the way,” Chester told www.hullcityafc.net
“It’s not something that I wanted to be hanging over me going into pre-season, so it’s pleasing that everything is done now and I can just focus on my football. I think that is important with such a big season coming up.
“This is a nice time to get everything sorted.”
Although negotiations over a new deal appear to have taken a while, once talks began things were concluded pretty quickly and Chester revealed that he always knew he wanted his future to be with the Tigers.
“It was never in my mind to look anywhere else, I just wanted to get the deal signed here,” added the former Manchester United youngster.
“I’m happy here and I’ve got a great relationship with the rest of the lads. I also enjoy living in this area, so leaving never entered my mind.
“The Premier League is where I’ve always wanted to play football and I think it’s going to feel that bit more special doing it with Hull City after winning promotion with them and all the hard work that went into it.
“This is the perfect situation.”
