New signing Curtis Davies was amongst the players who returned for the start of pre-season training on Thursday.
Here, the defender takes us through the opening session at the University of Hull, one that he describes as the most thorough day he has experienced at the start of pre-season.
“The first day was good and we did a little bit more than I expected.
“Luckily, there were a few things that I did during my medical when I signed last week so I didn’t have to do those again!
“But there were still plenty of little tests to do and we’ll be doing them again later in pre-season to see how we’re progressing.
“I started off with the body fat tests, which aren’t the best things to do on your first day when you’ve just come back from holiday but it has to be done!
“Then we went on to do some power tests before going to see the dentist and the optician. Those were new to me as part of the first day of pre-season, but it’s all good. The check-up with the dentist was the quickest one ever, and luckily I have 20/20 vision so I knew I wouldn’t be struggling with the eye test.
“It was then on for a heart scan and ECG, just to check there weren’t any irregularities and I finished with some jump tests.
“It was a very thorough first day and it took around three hours to go through all of the tests. As I’m still in the process of moving up to Hull, that was great and better than just coming in for a quick run. It was fantastic to get so much done.
“I would say this was the most thorough first day of pre-season I’ve experienced. It was basically a full medical and more for everybody.
“It was nice to meet up with the rest of the lads and we’re looking forward to getting into the hard work. I’m not sure we’ll see a ball any time soon, but it’s great to be back in the football environment after the summer break.”
