Exciting Times

Meyler can't wait to get started after seeing fixture list for first time....

Earlier this week, David Melyer told us of his excitement ahead of the new Premier League fixture lists coming out and he admits that has now been heightened after seeing the schedule for the first time.

The fixture list for the new season was released on Wednesday morning and sees the Tigers face big guns Chelsea and Manchester City in two of their opening three games.

And that, says Meyler, has whetted the appetite even more.

“You look at the list and you see the first two away games are against Chelsea and Manchester City, so it’s going to be tough,” said Meyler.

“We’re all looking forward to it and it’s going to be amazing. It’s what we all worked so hard for last season isn’t it?

“We’ve got the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City coming to the KC and it’s going to be brilliant. It’s great for the city of Hull and it’s going to be great for the players as well.

“I’m sure the manager will have us all fired up and ready to go for that opening game against Chelsea.

“Jose Mourinho will do the same with his players and they’ll be hoping to win the league. It will be tough, but maybe we can spoil his party.”

Meyler is also looking forward to playing against some of his friends in the new season and has dates with Everton and Liverpool already marked down on the calendar.

“I’ve got a couple of close friends I’m looking forward to playing against,” added the Republic of Ireland international.

“There’s Seamus Coleman at Everton and Jordan Henderson at Liverpool. They’re a couple of my friends in football and you always look forward to the chance to play against them.

“Other than that, you also look forward to the games against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City.

“They are the elite and have some of the best players in the world. It’s all very exciting.”
