Hull City captain Robert Koren believes there’s no reason to be too downhearted following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at title favourites Chelsea.
The Tigers were blown away by a stunning opening 25-minute spell from Jose Mourinho’s team at Stamford Bridge, but Koren felt that the improvement shown after half time bodes well for the future.
“We had a game plan, but it obviously didn’t work well in the first 25 minutes,” said Koren.
“Chelsea will never be an easy place to go to and they are one of the top teams in the world, but we need to learn from this defeat.
“We tried our best, but unfortunately Chelsea were too good for us. We showed in the second half that if we’re not scared, if we have a little bit of belief, we can play at this level.
“Hopefully we can bring the second half into the next game, start that match well and try to get some points at home.”
The Tigers return home next weekend for the visit of Norwich City to the KC Stadium. Tickets are on general sale now – buy online
