The Kenyan company, which sponsors both the Tigers and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), have worked together to offer 18 professional players from Kenya’s first division the opportunity to take on a Hull City XI at the KCOM Stadium on Monday evening (KO 6.30pm). The game celebrates the partnership between the Club and SportPesa and highlights SportPesa’s commitment to improving Kenyan football.
The journey started back in November when three coaches; Richard Naylor, Kris Blakeston and Terry Boyle travelled throughout Kenya on scouting missions at all SportPesa KPL teams and named 47 players to qualify for a training camp in January.
The two-week camp was held at the Kasarani National Stadium in Nairobi and was delivered by Tigers’ coaches, with the first week under the leadership of Dean Windass and Terry Boyle, followed by Richard O’Donnell and Daniel O’Keeffe in week two.
After two weeks of intensive training, the coaches were faced with the difficult task of selecting an 18-man squad to travel to Hull for this prestigious event.
