Mike Phelan must decide whether to change a winning team when the Tigers host Manchester United on Saturday.
Phelan has a fit-again Harry Maguire to add to his squad after the defender made his return to action in the EFL Cup in midweek, but with makeshift centre back Jake Livermore having impressed in helping the side to two wins from their opening two top flight games, Phelan may well stick with the same starting eleven.
“Harry is fit again, so that gives us another option,” said Phelan.
“But he has only played one full game, so we’ll make that decision later as to whether he comes into the team or not.
“Jake has taken on his recent role really well and, to be honest, I think he has even surprised himself a little bit. However, I remember a few years ago he did play a few games as a centre back, albeit at a different club.
“He’s found a position that I think he is enjoying. It does help that the team has been winning, but at the moment he is enjoying playing where he is playing.”
Josh Tymon should be fit enough to take a place in the squad despite limping out of the cup victory over Exeter, but young striker Greg Luer will be out of action for ‘a few weeks’ with the knee problem that saw him stretchered off at St James Park.
Manchester United have no injury concerns ahead of their trip to East Yorkshire, and manager Jose Mourinho could name the same starting eleven that defeated Southampton a week ago.
