Faye Relishing New Challenge

17:24 20th July 2012

Having enjoyed successful spells in the Premier League with the likes of Bolton, Newcastle and Stoke during an eventful career to date, Abdoulaye Faye is now relishing the challenge of pushing for promotion with the Tigers.

After helping West Ham to achieve promotion from the Championship last season, the experienced defender was delighted to sign for the Tigers after seeing the ambition within the club.

"I am very happy to be here and to have signed for Hull City. It is a fresh challenge for me, and one that I am greatly looking forward to," said Faye.

"Last year I played for West Ham in what was a very strong team that ended up securing promotion. Steve Bruce is a great manager with a fantastic record, and when he spoke to me about his ambitions for the club it was easy for me to make up my mind.

"I spent time watching Hull last season and they played very well. We have plenty of talented young players in the squad, and I think I can complement them with my experience.

"Experience can count for a lot in football. I have played for several years in the Premiership, with last year being my first in the Championship.

"I think that in some ways the Championship is even tougher as it is played at such a frantic pace, and is very physical.

"The fixture schedule is also a lot more demanding, you can sometimes find yourself playing as many as three games in a week.

"It is vital that everyone is at the peak of their fitness if you are to be successful."

Fresh from promotion with The Hammers, the 34-year-old, who can also play in midfield, is well aware of what it takes to be successful in the Championship, and believes that everything is in place for the Tigers to challenge for honours this season.

"The aim, of course, is to help Hull to seal promotion," he added.

"As I said, I think that we have a great team in place here, and I know that we are backed by passionate supporters who obviously want to see the team do well.

"I will always try to give my best here, and if everyone pulls together then I think that we have a really good chance of being successful."
