David Stockdale insists he and his team-mates are taking little notice of the Championship table at the moment.
Tuesday night’s win against Blackburn Rovers saw the Tigers maintain their place in the automatic promotion places and cut the gap on league leaders Cardiff to five points, but Stockdale insists all he and his team-mates are thinking about is continuing to pick up points.
“We don’t really look at the table,” said Stockdale.
“You do have a look from time to time because it is the league and the points tell the story. But if we don’t win our games, what other teams do doesn’t matter because we will have dropped points as well.
“It’s all about us trying to go out there to get the points and trying to keep going. We’re coming to the nitty gritty end of the season now and the points we take will all add up.
“If other teams drop points, then so be it but we want to keep picking them up.”
Stockdale is currently in his second loan spell with the Tigers this season and has kept three clean sheets in his last five games.
The goalkeeper is enjoying his time in East Yorkshire, but isn’t looking any further ahead than Saturday’s trip to Bolton.
“I’m enjoying my football a lot at the moment,” added the man on loan from Fulham.
“I don’t want to look too far forward because when you’re enjoying something it usually has to come to an end sometime.
“I am enjoying it though, and we’ll see what happens.”
