Adkins Aiming To Finish Season On A High

04 May 2019
Nigel Adkins is keen to avoid any end of season feeling when Hull City host Bristol City at the KCOM Stadium on Sunday (KO 12.30pm).

The game is the Tigers’ final outing of the 2018/19 season with a campaign of progress on the field yielding a mid-table finish, and Adkins is keen to finish on a high against a side that know only a win will do if they are to snatch a play-off spot.

“It’s the last game of the season and it’s been a good season when you reflect on it,” said Adkins.

“We were tipped to be relegated and were bottom of the league in October but our spirit, passion, commitment and the hard work ethic of the players has come through. We’ve played some good football, scored some good goals and chased a play-off spot down to the last couple of weeks. That didn’t quite materialise but we should now go and enjoy the last game of the season.

“It’s a meaningful game because Bristol City need a win, but we’ve done ever so well at home this season and we want to round it off well in front of our own crowd. I think everyone will have memories of the good attacking football that we’ve played this season and we want to go out and win this last game now.

“We want to do well against what will be an excited Bristol City side. They’re very good on the counter-attack as well as a good footballing side, so it should be a good, entertaining game.

“The supporters that are paying to come and watch should know that the team is going to give everything that they’ve got. Regardless of it being the last game, we want to play good football and score goals as we have done on numerous occasions this season.”
