The Polish international winger produced what was arguably his best performance of the season – playing a part in both of Fraizer Campbell’s goals before opening his account for the campaign with a stunning 25-yard free-kick as the Tigers came from 2-0 down to lead 3-2.
Che Adams’ 84th-minute equaliser – which saw the Birmingham man complete his hat-trick – denied the Tigers a third straight win and ensured the points were shared. Speaking to the media after the stalemate, Adkins was quick to praise the impact made by Grosicki.
“We’ve got a new Kamil Grosicki – and this is the Kamil we want,” he said.
“He’s committed to the team and he’s working his socks off. We know he’s got undoubted ability and quality.
“For the period of time he was out, mentally and physically it just needs time to get back into it. But you’ve seen now that we’ve got a team that’s having a right good go for each other. They’re all working as a team and Kamil is part of that.
“I want everyone to do well but they’ve got to toe the line of the team ethos. The discipline we’ve got is important and if you do that then it’s great. No one is bigger than the team.
“I’ll always give everyone the opportunity and Kamil has gone and done it. I can’t praise him highly enough.
“We want to be excited by Kamil but he’s part of the team, running up and down and tracking back. That’s what we want.”
