Five successive Championship wins and a run of 27 points from the last 36 available have seen the Tigers make a move up the table but Adkins knows a tough Yorkshire Derby awaits against a Wednesday side currently under the caretaker stewardship of Steve Agnew ahead of Steve Bruce’s arrival next month.
“It’ll be a tough game and they have a squad of really good players with quite a strong attacking force,” said Adkins.
“There’s been a change of manager there and Steve Bruce will come in next month, but his coaching staff are already in there so the methods of how they want to go and perform are being put in place.
“They’re on a good run of form themselves and they’ve brought a few players back into it, Keiren Westwood for example who had been left out in the cold a little bit, so some experienced players are coming back in.
“There’s a spirit about them as well, so we know it’s going to be challenging.
“We’ve had a good meeting with the players. Yes, we’ve been on a good run of form but we can’t have any complacency kicking in. We need to make sure we’re on it and we’re pleased with how the lads have reacted to what we’ve said.
“We’ll have to be right at it to keep our momentum going and we must continue to do all of the things that we have been doing well, but we should be confident going into the game too.”
