The Tigers moved up to 18th in the Sky Bet Championship table – six points away from the bottom three – following the impressive 4-3 success against the Canaries and Adkins is keen to see another strong team performance at Portman Road as they look to register back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.
“It was a great team performance and we need to keep that level of consistency now,” he said.
“Since I’ve been here the performances have been really good and sometimes you don’t get the rewards you deserve.
“I thought the players were magnificent in the way they conducted themselves. There was a fighting spirit and togetherness. The supporters got right behind the players and it was a superb atmosphere.
“Our home form has been massively important. I was very annoyed the other night that we lost our unbeaten record in a game we were wanting to win. The response was good though as we produced a great team performance to pick up three valuable points.
“The pressure isn’t off us on the back of one win though. We’ve got to get ourselves ready to go again. Listen, we’ve only won two games away from home in two years so we’ve got two matches coming up which are both tough games.
“I told the players to enjoy the moment on Saturday, reflect on the performance, but then to draw a line and get ready for the next challenge.
“It’s going to be tough down there. Mick McCarthy’s teams are always tough to beat. Can we go on and put in another good performance that gives us the opportunity to win a game of football?
“There’s no one getting carried away. They’ve enjoyed the feeling of winning and that camaraderie is important. We were asked questions as a group and the players responded in a great way. Now we must go again.”
