Batty Set For Short Spell On The Sidelines

03 September 2019
Grant McCann has confirmed that Dan Batty is facing a short spell on the sidelines after scans confirmed the young midfielder had suffered ankle ligament damage.

Batty was withdrawn 12 minutes from time when struggling in last week’s Carabao Cup defeat at Preston North End and, speaking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Millwall, the Tigers’ Head Coach revealed that he expects the Academy product to miss the Tigers’ home game against Wigan Athletic after the international break as a result of the knock.

“The scans came back and showed that Dan has suffered ankle ligament damage but I don’t think it’s going to be too bad,” said McCann.

“He may miss the first game back after the international break but he’ll be back for the one after that.

“The break has come at a good time for ‘Batts’, plus the games are Saturday-Saturday-Saturday once the domestic action gets going again after the international matches.

“So there’s every chance he’ll only miss two games because of the knock – Saturday’s game at Millwall and the home game with Wigan, which is positive news.”
