The Tigers’ Development Squad saw their six-game unbeaten run come to an abrupt end on Monday night when they suffered a 2-0 home loss to Exeter City in the opening fixture of their Premier League Cup Group Stage campaign.
Beale has urged his players not to dwell on the defeat and wants them to respond at the first time of asking on the big stage under the KCOM lights.
“The lads have got a great opportunity to respond to the disappointment of Monday’s cup defeat against Birmingham at the KCOM Stadium,” he said.
“We’re playing straight after the first team and hopefully plenty of fans will stay behind to cheer the lads on.
“I’ll be expecting a response from the lads, and no doubt they’ll want to get back to winning ways at the first time of asking.
“They were hugely disappointed after the Exeter game. We didn’t play anywhere near to the standards we’re capable of, especially in the final third.
“They know they’re better than what they showed on Monday night, and hopefully we’ll play to our full potential against Birmingham in order to continue our decent league form of late.
“The KCOM has been a good place for us since we’ve started playing U23 games there. We’ve not lost many games and we’ve always done well there, so hopefully that will continue on Saturday.
“As I say, I’m sure the lads are determined to get things right and bounce back, and hopefully we can produce a performance that rewards the fans who do choose to stay behind.”
