Burton Arrives From Shrewsbury Town

26 July 2017
The Tigers have completed the signing of promising young goalkeeper Callum Burton from Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old custodian has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal, with the Club having the option to extend the deal for a further 12 months, and will be part of the Tigers’ Under-23 Development Squad.

Burton joined Shrewsbury direct from school and quickly found himself elevated to the international stage by earning?England youth honours.

He made his Three Lions debut for the Under-16s in a 1-0 win over Spain in Madrid and was also capped at Under-17 and Under-18 level.

He was loaned out to both Market Drayton and Workington early in the 2013/14 season to aid his development ahead of signing his first professional contract at Shrewsbury in March 2014.

After a number of appearances on the bench, Burton finally made his league debut for Shrewsbury against Swindon Town on the final day of the 2015/16 season.

He went out on loan twice last season, firstly making six appearance for National League North side Nuneaton Town before an 11-game spell at AFC Telford United.
