Tiger Events at the KCOM Stadium are passionate about supporting great causes and giving back to others. That’s why every year we make a fundraising commitment to one outstanding charity and pledge to do all we can to raise money to support the cause.
This year we are thrilled to announce that our Charity of the Year is… When You Wish Upon A Star!
About the charity
When You Wish Upon a Star grants the Wishes of children who suffer from life-threatening and terminal illnesses. Over the years, the regional office, although based in Grimsby, has helped to make wishes come true for hundreds of children from Hull (and over 3000 more wishes for children in the wider region). Wishes, which may include a family holiday, trip in a supercar of meeting a favourite celebrity, enable families to create special and treasured memories which can be remembered long after the Wish takes place.
Each Christmas the Charity takes around 90 Wish children and their families on a unique and magical trip in search of Santa. The ‘Santa Express’ provides a special day for local children, on board the themed carriages of the luxurious Northern Belle train. From start to finish, the day is one of excitement and adventure, fun and games and, of course, a special meeting with Santa.
Says Joanne Wright, Area Manager for the Charity, “We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen as the Charity of the Year for Tiger Events. We have worked special families in the area for many years and we see this as a real opportunity to work alongside Tiger Events with a view to making even more Wishes come true for our local children. We’re hoping that our raised profile within the stadium will also encourage new supporters to come forward to offer help.”
Our General Manager, Dan Coulson, said, “We are delighted to announce When You Wish Upon A Star as our nominated charity for 2018/19. The charity helps make wishes come true for children who have life threatening illnesses, and here at the stadium we hope to provide space for them to hold a variety of events to fund raise throughout the year.”
