Dawson Pleased With First Win

14 August 2017
Michael Dawson described Saturday's 4-1 victory over Burton Albion as a 'good day's work'.

An Abel Hernández hat-trick along with Kamil Grosicki’s first goal in a black and amber shirt secured all three points for Leonid Slutsky’s side against the Brewers, much to the delight of the Tigers’ skipper.

“It was important to get that first win under our belt and what made it even better was the manner of the victory,” he said.

“We started really well and got the early goal, but then they came back into the game. They put us on the back foot a little bit and managed to get back on level terms.

“You have to say the red card changed the game though. We took control of the match and dominated after the break.

“Thankfully we got the second goal early on in the second half and from then on it was comfortable for us. We went on to score two more to ensure it was an enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.

“Overall it was a good day’s work – the only thing that was missing was the clean sheet!”

Reflecting on the contribution of Hernández, who bagged his second treble for the Tigers, Dawson was quick to praise the efforts of the Uruguayan international.

“The win was very much a team effort, but obviously it was great to see Abel get his hat-trick, he added.

“We know what he’s capable of and getting off the mark for the season will have done wonders for his confidence. “Hopefully he can continue to be amongst the goals now for the remainder of the season.”
