The Tigers slipped to a fifth successive league loss at the hands of the Addicks, with Jason Pearce’s first-half goal proving decisive in the Sky Bet Championship clash the KCOM Stadium.
Next weekend’s trip to Birmingham City provides the next opportunity for Grant McCann’s men to pick up some much-needed points, with the skipper accepting a positive response is needed.
“It’s not the way we wanted to start this run of games,” he said. “Everyone was excited to play again and we wanted to do well.
“We worked hard as a team but the score just didn’t go our way. It was a frustrating day for us all. When you don’t concede too many chances but still lose the game, it is hard to take.
“We should have defended the set-piece better. We touched on it last week in training so everyone knew what they had to do. It’s extra frustrating that they then scored from a set-piece.
“We know that we have to start scoring goals also. Callum (Elder) put six crosses into the box on Saturday but we only had one first contact. That has to change going forward because we have to score goals in order to win games.
“We know have another week of training now and we will work hard together to find a positive response when we travel to Birmingham.”
