Hull City

From The Archives: Back The Bid (At The Bridge)

20 March 2020
Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, we’re delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Hull City’s illustrious history. For the foreseeable future, we’ll provide an image each day for supporters to enjoy and reminisce.

It was a case of ‘smile for the camera’ as the entire first-team squad and coaching staff gathered at the Humber Bridge for the Club’s official photo call in September 2010.

Having already assembled for the usual team photo at the then-named KC Stadium, the group headed off to a second location as part of the promotional activity to back The FA’s bid to bring the 2018 World Cup Finals to England and see games staged in Hull.

Somewhat unsurprisingly – Jimmy Bullard and Paul McShane were amongst those at the centre of the tomfoolery as they arrived with black and amber balloons tied to the latter’s car with Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire’ blaring out from the stereo – much to the surprise of a group of elderly walkers out for a morning stroll along the foreshore!
