Hull City

From The Archives: Anyone For Monopoly?

Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, we’re delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Hull City’s illustrious history. For the foreseeable future, we’ll provide an image each day for supporters to enjoy and reminisce.

We wonder how many of you have enjoyed a good old family game of Monopoly during lockdown?

Back in 2008, you could have been playing it Hull City style! A first ever promotion to the top-flight of English football brought plenty of things our way in 2008 – worldwide exposure, memorable experiences, a chance to mix it with the very best – and our very own edition of the popular board game Monopoly!

Matt Duke, Peter Halmosi, Geovanni, Dean Windass, Nick Barmby and Ian Ashbee were all on hand to help with the launch and no doubt enjoyed a game amongst themselves afterwards.

The game was produced to celebrate the Tigers’ promotion to the Premier League, with players, staff and stands replacing the famous London landmarks used in the original version.

This was one of the most popular gifts in the city at Christmas in 2008. Do you still have your version?
