Hernández Named As Burton MOTM

14 August 2017
Abel Hernández was voted as the Tigers' Man of the Match in Saturday's 4-1 thrashing of Burton Albion.

Hernández bagged a hat-trick as the Tigers registered their first win of the new season. Kamil Grosicki was also on the scoresheet – his first for the Club – in what turned out to be another strong second half showing from Leonid Slutsky’s side, albeit against a team a man light after Jackson Irvine was dismissed for two bookable offences before the break.

The Uruguayan international had opened the scoring inside seven minutes before Irvine equalised for Albion ahead of his red card. After the break, there was only one team in it as wave after wave of home attacks brought three further goals – and delivered a second matchball of the striker’s time at the KCOM Stadium as he completed his treble.

Hernández was the overwhelming winner of the Man of the Match award – voted for by Tigers’ fans on Twitter – claiming an impressive 67 per cent of the vote. Kamil Grosicki was the runner-up with 14 per cent of the vote, ahead of Michael Hector (13 per cent) and Fraizer Campbell (6 per cent).
