How It Felt To Win At Wembley: Boaz Myhill

24 May 2020
Boaz Myhill admitted he had no doubts whatsoever about the outcome of the 2007/08 Championship Play-Off Final.

The custodian kept his 17th and most important clean sheet of the season in the clash with Bristol City at Wembley to help the Tigers register a 1-0 win and secure a third promotion in the space of just five seasons.

Taking a break from the post-match celebrations inside the Tigers’ dressing room, Myhill said: “I’ve been here for five years now. The seeds were always there and it’s a day that everyone involved will always remember.

“Once again, as they have done all season, the boys defended ever so well. The whole team was magnificent – in all areas of the pitch – and ‘Deano’ provided that bit of quality to win the game.

“All credit to the lads, though. The sweat on the shirts of everyone involved shows just how much we all put in.

“I can honestly say – with my hand on my heart – I was never nervous for a single second during the entire game.

“I just believed all the way through that this was our year and it was meant to be. Thankfully, it’s worked out. It’s an absolutely superb feeling.

“It’s incredible what we’ve achieved. Everyone has worked so hard and we’ve done it in the best possible way. It’s just great to feel a part of it.”
