Hull City

Report: Hull City 0-0 Norwich City

27 November 2018
Hull City held Sky Bet Championship leaders Norwich City to a 0-0 draw at the KCOM Stadium on Tuesday night.

Tricky conditions made it a night to dig in and the Tigers did just that, shutting out the previously free-scoring Canaries to take a hard-earned point.

Nigel Adkins made three changes to his side, with two of those forced upon him as Daniel Batty (calf) and Fraizer Campbell (suspended) were both unavailable. Markus Henriksen, Kevin Stewart and Todd Kane all came in, with Jordy de Wijs dropping to the bench. Kane played at right back, with Reece Burke moving into the centre of defence.

Chris Martin saw a glancing header from a Kamil Grosicki cross held by Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul inside the opening two minutes and Jarrod Bowen caused early problems for the visiting defence with driving runs down both flanks.

Torrential rain and a strong wind made a couple of Grosicki set pieces difficult to defend but brought no breakthrough, before the Polish international’s ball in from open play saw Bowen head a difficult chance wide at the far post.

David Marshall made his first save of the night as he pushed Alex Tettey’s swerving 25-yard effort to safety 35 minutes in and he made an even better stop to keep out Tom Trybull’s low strike a minute later.

Trybull also headed a decent chance over from a corner before the break, meaning the two sides went into half time on level terms.

Jackson Irvine hit a weak shot straight at Krul early in the second half with Grosicki also seeing an effort saved, while a strong run from Irvine down the left produced a cross that found Bowen at the far post but he could only slice wide after bringing the ball under control.

Henriksen was just off target with a shot from 25 yards before Trybull missed a great chance for Norwich at the other end as he glanced a header wide from six yards.

That was the last real chance of the night as both teams had to settle for a point.
