Callum Elder is one of those competing for a place in McCann’s plans having trained fully for the last couple of weeks, with the left back pushing for a debut after a delayed start following his arrival from Leicester City last month.
Reece Burke, Matthew Pennington and Jon Toral, who all came off during the 1-1 draw at Millwall before the international break, will also be in McCann’s thoughts along with Stephen Kingsley who missed the trip to The Den with a hamstring problem.
“We’re looking good and those that have been injured have been out on the grass and have a chance for the weekend,” said McCann.
“Whether we take the risk with one or two of them – we’ll wait and see. The majority aren’t as bad as we first thought and you always have to be a bit careful with hamstring injuries. It’s been pleasing to see them out there this week.
“Callum has been training with us for the last two weeks and is looking good, so he comes into contention for the weekend.
“Our international players have also come back in good shape. They’ve had a lighter day than the rest of the group today, but we expect them to be firing on all cylinders come Friday and Saturday.”
A late red card at Millwall means that Josh Magennis is ruled out through suspension.
