Hull City Under-18s booked their spot in the hat for the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a well-deserved 2-1 win over Cardiff City on Wednesday night.
The Tigers were forced to come from behind at the KCOM Stadium as Cardiff opened the scoring inside the opening five minutes when Keenan Patten’s strike was deflected past Harrison Foulkes and into the back of the net.
But John Anderson and Terry Boyle’s young side were back on level terms before the break – and deservedly so – when Keane Lewis-Potter headed home Dan Hawkins’ 44th-minute corner.
And they sealed the win 14 minutes from time when Rob Guilfoyle netted the match-winning goal. Lewis-Potter was involved again as he intercepted a loose pass before releasing Guilfoyle and the striker produced a composed finish to find the bottom corner after slotting the ball past George Ratcliffe.
