Hull City were denied a winning start to life under Grant McCann after twice being pegged by Leyton Orient in their opening pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

In what was a lively encounter at the Marbella Football Center, the Tigers created numerous opportunities in the first half before finally opening the scoring through Reece Burke midway through the first half, only for the League Two side to level the scores before the break courtesy of Dale Gorman’s free-kick.

McCann’s side restored their advantage shortly before the hour mark when Keane Lewis-Potter produced a composed first-time finish to guide Brandon Fleming’s left-wing cross into the back of the net.

However, once again, Orient hit back almost immediately to ensure it finished honours even in the Spanish sun with skipper Josh Coulson rising above the Tigers’ backline to power home a header past George Long.
