Grosicki’s side beat North Macedonia 1-0 in Skopje, Krzysztof Piatek scoring the only goal to make it three wins from their opening three games. They face their nearest challengers on Monday evening, hosting second-place Israel in Warsaw.
Markus Henriksen was also in international action, playing the full 90 minutes as Norway hosted Romania in Oslo. The Norwegians looked to be on track for a first win of this campaign when they took a two-goal lead courtesy of strikes from Tarik Elyounouss and Martin Odegaard, but the Romanians fought back to snatch a draw, scoring their leveller in added time.
The result left Norway fifth in Group F ahead of Monday’s game against bottom side Faroe Islands who have yet to register a point from their three matches so far.
