Irvine Plays Key Role In Australia Win

15 November 2019
Jackson Irvine played a key role in Australia’s historic 1-0 victory over Jordan yesterday to to extend their lead to five points at the top of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifying Group B.

The Tigers’ midfielder was involved in the only goal of the game, supplying a perfectly-weighted through ball for Adam Taggart to find the back of the net with a first-finish.

Irvine has now been directly involved in six goals for Australia in 2019 (two goals & four assists) – more than any other player for the Caltex Socceroos this calendar year.

The Socceroos dominated proceedings in the first half before the hosts worked their way back into the match in the second half.

However, Irvine and his international team-mates held out for a first-ever away win over Jordan and maintain their perfect record of four wins and 12 points in the second phase of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifying.
