Just one place and two points separate the two clubs at the foot of the Sky Bet Championship table ahead of the clash, which will see both sides in action for the first time in more than 100 days after the original fixture back in March was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The on-loan Liverpool midfielder is expecting a tough test in HU3 but was also quick to highlight the desire within the Tigers’ camp to begin the resumption of the season on a positive note.
“I’m expecting a real battle on the pitch,” he said. “It’s two clubs at the bottom of the table going head-to-head. We both want the three points but we’ve got to go out and show that we want it more.
“Charlton are a good team and have players that can cause problems but all we can do is remain focused on ourselves and what we have to do to ensure we get the win.
“We were on a disappointing run of form before the league was suspended but now is the time for us to step up and show our character.
“We have to show that we’re willing to dig in and work hard in order to get back to winning ways. The belief is there within the group and I can’t stress how important it is to have a positive mindset. Our only focus is on restarting the season with a positive result and performance on Saturday.”
Please remember, all remaining 2019/20 fixtures will be taking place behind closed doors but you can still watch the action live on Tigers TV. For full details, click here.
