After being buoyed by back-to-back victories over Norwich City and Ipswich Town, Nigel Adkins’ side went into the trip to St Andrew’s full of confidence but were brought back down to earth with a bump as a goal in each half from Jota was supplemented by Che Adams’ strike to give the hosts all three points on what was a disappointing afternoon for all of a black and amber persuasion.
“It was disappointing,” said Larsson. “We really wanted to win to pull ourselves away even further but with a performance like that, you’re not going to win games.
“We’d had a good week and we wanted to top it off with a decent performance but unfortunately we didn’t get that.
“I don’t think we handled the conditions well at the start of the game. They got their noses in front and we struggled to get back into the game.
“We’ll have to go back and look at what we didn’t do well enough. It’s never a good time to go into an international break with a defeat.
“It’s a long wait until the next league game when you can look to put things right. It’s frustrating but we can only look at ourselves and after the international break we’ll get back on it and go again.”
