The Tigers have taken a maximum 15 points from their last five games at the KCOM Stadium having registered victories over Brentford, Swansea City, Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City.
The upturn in form on home soil has played a key role in helping Nigel Adkins’ side climb up the Sky Bet Championship table, but US international defender knows there is no room for any let-up as they prepare to host Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
“It’s five home wins on the bounce now which is a really good record and one that we’re very proud of,” he said.
“You don’t really think about it too much because we just approach each match one game at a time. Once one game is over then it’s always onto the next straight away.
“But five successive wins at the KCOM is a really good run and one that we need to keep going with if we want to push on up the table and do something special this year.
“There are still a lot of games to come and right now we’re still outside the play-off spots.
“It’s nice to be looking up the table instead of down now though and we’ll just try to keep on rolling with these results. All we can do is keep performing as we have been and see what happens.”
Lichaj also had words of praise for the black and amber faithful and their contribution to the Tigers’ fine run of results at the KCOM.
“The atmosphere inside the KCOM at our recent home games has been really good and the fans deserve a lot of credit for that,” he added.
“They’re behind us every step of the way and that helps the team a lot. It’s reassuring and a lot different from what it was in the early stages of the season when it was more a feeling of frustration.
“It was just as frustrating for us as players because we knew we were better than we were showing in terms of our results.
“But what’s important is that we have been showing it over the past few months and hopefully we can keep showing it until the end of the season to help us achieve our goal.”
