A first defeat of 2020 ended a run of three straight wins for the Tigers, and saw them slip to 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table – three points adrift of the play-off places – and McCann was quick to highlight the importance of bouncing back when his side return to action at Derby County on Saturday.
“We’ll just keep going. With 19 games left, there’s a long way to go,” he said.
“Like everyone else in the Championship, we’re searching for that all-important consistency.
“Apart from the top three now – because Brentford are flying – every team is searching for that consistency with their form in order to challenge for the top six.
“Saturday’s result was a bit of a dent for us, but one thing about this group is that they can respond.
“They’ve shown that to be the case all season and they’ll have to do it again next weekend.
“We were back in on Monday and everyone was smiling and working hard as we began our preparations for this weekend’s trip to Derby.”
