The 22-year-old became McCann’s first permanent signing of the January transfer window earlier today when penning a two-and-a-half year deal with the Tigers.
Samuelsen previously played under the Tigers’ current Head Coach whilst on loan at Peterborough United during the 2016/17 campaign and McCann is delighted to have added the Norwegian to his squad at the KCOM Stadium.
“I’m pleased because he’s a very good signing for the club,” he said.
“It’s a move that’s been going on for a little bit now but it’s good to have it all rubber-stamped and done. I’m pleased that everything’s gone through and Martin can now settle into his new home.
“He’s very versatile in what he can do and can play anywhere across the front three and can also play as a number ten – so he’s the perfect signing for the way we like to play.
“He’s different to what we’ve got already. He’s more of a clever, tricky sort of player that wants to drift into pockets. He can dribble past people and help to get the team up the pitch.
“He’s at a great age to improve and can go on to be whatever he wants to be. We’ll be here for him and give him all the help he could possibly want and give him the chance to develop. Hopefully, he can contribute to the team winning games every time he plays.”
