McCann Eyeing Cup Progress

27 August 2019
Head Coach Grant McCann is targeting Carabao Cup progress tonight – but knows his side will face a tough test against Preston North End.

The Tigers head into the clash looking to bounce back from successive league defeats at the hands of Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City on home soil at the KCOM Stadium and McCann sees the trip to Deepdale as the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.

“It’s another game and an opportunity for us to go out and get back to winning ways,” he said.

“We were very good in the first round away at Tranmere and it’s good that the game comes so soon for us after Saturday’s defeat and successive losses.

“It’s a challenge and a test that we’re looking forward to as a group. We’ll go there to try and win the game.

“As I’ve said before, we want to enjoy a good cup run this season. If that’s in one competition then great. If it’s in two, that would be even better.

“Preston are a good team. We’ve had them watched and we know what to expect. Alex Neil has done a really good job there, so it’s another big game for us.

“It’s game where we can go and test ourselves and one that we’re determined to come out on top in.”
