Grosicki and de Wijs both sat out the trip to Pride Park at the weekend with calf problems although the injuries are not expected to keep the pair on the sidelines for long, with McCann revealing both players could return to training in the early stages of the Tigers’ preparations to face Frank Lampard’s side.
“Neither of them has a major problem,” he said. “Kamil has got a bit of fluid in his knee that moved down into the back of his calf.
“We thought he was going to be okay because he came out for training on Thursday but the fluid had moved on to his calf so he wasn’t good enough to travel to Derby. Hopefully, he’ll be good enough for Monday or Tuesday.
“Jordy had two tight calves and hobbled out of training on Thursday. We didn’t want to risk him pulling anything which is why he missed out on the weekend but, like Kamil, he might be okay by Tuesday.”
