Arthur was officially unveiled as a Hull City player on Thursday, with the 20-year-old penning a three-year contract at the KCOM Stadium, with the Tigers seeing off reported interest from Premier League Leicester City and Ipswich Town to seal the deal.
“He’s been phenomenal for Stockport this season,” said McCann.
“He’s played men’s football from the age of 18. He’s a 6ft 3in commanding centre-back and can pass the ball with his left foot and his right foot.
“We’re really pleased to get him because there was a lot of interest in him, even from the Premier League.
“I went to meet him before lockdown and sat down with to explain about the football club and what he’s coming into. Hopefully that did the trick because it’s done and dusted and signed now.
“It will take time for him to adjust to this level of course but to have played so many games at such a young age shows what promise he has.
“I watched him train with the under-23s and he’s got real authority about him and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
