McCann Looks Ahead To Middlesbrough Test

02 July 2020
Grant McCann says Neil Warnock’s appointment at Middlesbrough has changed the dynamics of tonight’s Sky Bet Championship clash at the KCOM Stadium – but insists his team are more than ready for the challenge.

Warnock made an instant impact as the Teessiders recorded a 2-0 win away at Stoke City on his first game in charge, a result which saw him become the first Boro boss to win his first game in charge since Bryan Robson in 1994.

And McCann knows the tonight’s opponents led by Warnock will be a much different prospect to the one managed by former Head Coach Jonathan Woodgate.

“We know what we’re up against,” said McCann. “They’ve had a really good result against Stoke in their first game. They looked organised and they looked strong.

“We know the way Neil sets his teams up and we’ve gone through that thoroughly. A new manager brings a different identity and everyone’s got their own style of play.

“It will be a completely different game to a Middlesbrough under Jonathan Woodgate but we’re looking forward to it. The aim will be to put our game-plan into action and get the result we all want.”
