McCann: Players Hungry To Rediscover Winning Feeling

07 March 2020
Grant McCann says his players are hungry to experience that “winning feeling” again ahead of today’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Stoke City.

The Tigers make the trip to the bet365 Stadium without a win in their last ten league outings and go head-to-head with a Potters side that are just two points and three places below them in the league table.

McCann, though, insists his squad is in good spirits going into the game and are fully focused on ending their frustrating wait for a maximum return.

“The next ten games are obviously going to define our season and decide where we end up in the table,” he said.

“First up is Stoke City today and that is the most important fixture right now. It’s going to be a difficult game because Michael O’Neill has done a decent job since going in there.

“If you look at Stoke and the players they’ve got, you would’ve imagined they’d be in and around the top six, but they find themselves below us in the table.

“People will dress it up as a six-pointer and things like that but we don’t. It’s the next game and the next one that we want to go and perform in to try and get a result.

“We’ve been working hard this week and we’re focused on making sure we deliver a good performance.

“We all don’t get too down or too high in terms of our results. We’re in the middle win, lose or draw, but it would be good to lift the mood around the place.

“We feel confident going into the game and I’ve got no doubts that this group of players are really hungry to get back to winning ways and experience that winning feeling once again.”
