McLoughlin: Focus Must Be On Us

05 March 2020
Sean McLoughlin insists Hull City’s focus must be totally on themselves going into the end-of-season run-in.

Just ten games remain in the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship campaign and the Republic of Ireland centre-back – who has featured in five of the last six games – knows a big improvement is needed for all in the Tigers’ camp in order to arrest a frustrating run of ten games without a win.

“It’s a massive test for us now,” he said. “There are teams around us fighting for the same thing, everybody wants to get out of it.

“We have to focus on ourselves, each day in training and hopefully we can get back into form. We have to concentrate, focus and work really hard to make sure we get the points that we need.

“We’ve just got to pick ourselves up, focus on the positives and go again. We have to get back to basics, be hard to beat and stop conceding goals. In the coming weeks, we have to make sure we’re ready for whatever is thrown at us as we look to get back to winning ways.

“We know ourselves it hasn’t been good enough of late and, whoever gets selected at the weekend, we have to make sure we’re all reading off the same page.

“We need to be focused, we need to work hard and we need to make sure we get our mentality right to get the points we need.”
