The 19-year-old centre-back, who penned his first professional deal with the Tigers last summer after joining the Academy at the age of 16, is now contracted until the summer of 2019.
Speaking after putting pen-to-paper, Ritson said: “I’m buzzing to get the deal signed. It’s a nice reward at the end of the season and it’s a nice reward for all of the hard work I’ve put in since coming here at the age of 16.
“It’s been a somewhat frustrating campaign on a personal level. I’ve had to be patient and wait for my opportunities with the Under-23s but I got my chance at the back end of the season and I think I finished the campaign strongly, which was pleasing.
“I’ve also had the benefit of training with the first-team at Cottingham on a number of occasions this season, which has been great. To have the opportunity to learn from experienced first-team professionals was fantastic for me and the advice and guidance they gave me during those sessions was hugely beneficial.
“The aim now is to just kick on. I want to develop and improve in all areas of my game in order to become a better footballer.”
