Hull City U18 Rio Dyer says the team have no excuses after being defeated 2-0 against Coventry City.
Goals in each half from Coventry’s Joe Nightingale and Harrison Nee condemned the Tigers to defeat at The Alan Higgs Centre.
“I thought we was really slow at the start of the game,” said Dyer.
“I didn’t think the performance showed that we’ve had two and half weeks off, but it’s certainly no excuse for not winning our first or second balls or not being in their faces.
“The break could have been a factor of why we weren’t at our best, but we can’t look at that as an excuse of why we’ve lost. We’ll try and look at what we could have done to prevent the defeat and what we could have done more offensively going forward.
“I thought in the second half, we had a little bit more joy, but it still wasn’t enough to equalise and the game just got away from us in the end, despite creating good chances, but Coventry took their opportunities while we didn’t take ours.
“We’ve got a quick turnaround as we play Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, so we’ve got to put this result behind us and hopefully show a better performance to try and win the game.”
