McCann Previews Blackpool Trip

15 December 2020

Grant McCann has urged his Hull City side to up their standards when they travel to Blackpool this evening.

The Tigers head to Bloomfield Road looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at home to Shrewsbury Town, and McCann knows that his side need to be better to gain the three points.

“It’s a testing week,” said McCann. “We’ve got three games in six days so we’ll need to see who’s fresh for Blackpool and we’ll need to see who’s ready to go.

“We’ll pick a team that’s right to go to Blackpool and get a result and then obviously we’ve got a quick turnaround when we play Portsmouth on Friday night.

“We were below our standards on everything against Shrewsbury and we have to be better to win games. We have to be more creative, more aggressive in our press and we need to win more second balls against teams who play like Shrewsbury did.

“We have to get a foothold in the game to give ourselves the best possible opportunity. Everybody is fine after Saturday’s game so hopefully we’ll have no new worries ahead of the game against Blackpool."
