Grant McCann is expecting another “good footballing game” when Crewe Alexandra visit the KCOM Stadium this evening in the Papa John’s Trophy.
The Tigers were victorious when the two sides faced off at the KCOM Stadium earlier in the season as Mallik Wilks met Thomas Mayer’s cross with a diving header to secure the 1-0 win, and McCann will be hoping for more of the same from his Hull City side this evening.
“It’s another game at home and another game we want to try and win,” said McCann. “We want to try and progress in the competition and a win today puts us into the next round and another step closer to Wembley, so that’s our mindset.
“We’ll have a look at the players and see who’s fresh and ready to go, but it’ll be another good footballing game. Crewe, as you’ve seen when they came to the KCOM earlier in the season, are a good side who want to get the ball down and they want to play.
“It won’t be too dissimilar to the style of teams we’ve played over the past few games in Ipswich, Doncaster and Oxford, so we’re looking forward to this one.”
