Hull City U18’s returned back to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Nottingham Forest U18’s. A hat-trick from Harvey Carew and a goal from Henry Curtis sealed all three points for the Tigers at Bishop Burton College.
John Anderson and Matt Hare made four changes to the starting eleven that were defeated 3-2 against Doncaster Rovers last time out. Carew, Jevon Mills, Sam Deacon and Rio Dyer all came into the team for Josh Hinds, Billy Leach, McCauley Snelgrove and Will Jarvis respectively.
Both goalkeepers were tested early on as Alex Akers denied Luke Rees from close-range, before Thomas Macauley saved with his feet to deny Dale Taylor. McCauley Power then saw his curling free-kick pushed behind by Akers, while in the other goal Macauley denied Oliver Hammond.
The Tigers then took the lead on the tenth minute as a long pass found Carew and the striker made no mistake as he smashed his effort past the onrushing Akers. However, the visitors equalised just ten minutes later as good passing play released Taylor through on goal and he slotted his finish past the outstretched Macauley.
It was end-to-end action as the Tigers retook the lead through Curtis. The fullback cut inside from the right wing before he placed his low shot into the bottom corner. Nottingham tried to respond through Sam Collins, but his effort was well saved by Macauley. However, the Tigers’ goalkeeper couldn’t deny Nottingham equalising for a second time, as Taylor managed to dispatch his effort into the net to secure his brace and to ensure the scores were level at half-time.
In the second half, Taylor searched for his hat-trick as he fired an attempt over the bar, before the Tigers took the lead for a third time. A great pass by Deacon released Carew and he fired his shot past Akers to secure his brace. Six minutes later and Carew secured his hat-trick as he calmly placed his effort into the bottom corner to make the scoreline 4-2.
The Tigers searched for a fifth late on as Rees tested Akers from a tight angle while at the other end, Kyle McAdam curled his shot narrowly wide. Macauley then produced a stunning save to deny Collins in stoppage-time as the Tigers secured all three points.
