Power: The Team Gave Their All

6 November 2020

Hull City U18 McCauley Power has said the team gave everything to the cause as they progressed to the Second Round of The FA Youth Cup.

Second half goals from Louis Beckett and Will Jarvis sealed a 2-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra at The Alexandra Stadium, to progress in the prestigious competition.

“I’ve got to give credit to all the lads,” said Power.

“We had a disappointing result on the weekend against Colchester and I think we bounced back well in the game as we’ve shown and we’ve given 110% effort throughout the game to the end and it’s great to progress to the next round.

“It wasn’t easy for us. We showed the determination and desire to keep going and Crewe are above us in the table and despite the fact we haven’t played them yet in the league this season, we knew they’re a very good team on and off the ball.

“However, we showed a lot of character. We were patient and waited for the opportunity to score and when they came, we took them well and once we had the first goal we were on the momentum and got the second quite quickly after.

“We’ll now focus on Bristol City and I say you’re only as good as you’re last game, so we’ve done well against Crewe and we’ve got to take positives. Obviously, there’s always going to be negatives as well, but we’ve just got to look back on what we’ve done against Crewe and work towards the next game.”
