Hull City U18 Luke Rees says the team collectively need better game management, despite defeating Bristol City U18’s 4-3 at Bishop Burton College.
The striker scored the fourth goal for the Tigers, after goals from McCauley Power, Will Jarvis and Oliver Green sealed the victory in the U18 Professional Development League.
“I thought we played well as a team,” said Rees.
“We showed great character after going 1-0 down, as it’s never easy, but we all fought back and we got the equaliser, before managing to push on which is pleasing.
“However, I think we just need to manage games a bit better as we could have killed the game off with the chances we had and instead we conceded a third goal late on.
“When we’re winning, we seem to switch off a little bit and we need a bit more professionalism in our game and then we can really see games out, because we can then go on and score more goals and concede less goals at the other end. In the result today (4-3) it seems closer than what the game actually was.
“I think if we apply that to our game and keep going as we are doing by adding that little bit more resilience and a bit more concentration, then we can keep the good run going.”
