Hull City U18 Josh Ward says the team is excited ahead of their FA Youth Cup First Round fixture away at Crewe Alexandra.
John Anderson and Matt Hare’s side will face the Railwaymen at The Alexandra Stadium and will be aiming to get back to winning ways after a 5-3 defeat away at Colchester United last time out.
“The Youth Cup is always a good competition and it’s something different to the league, which we always look forward to taking part in, so it’s going to be an exciting prospect,” said Ward.
“Everyone wants to play in the Youth Cup and everyone is always looking forward to playing it, because it’s such a big competition and it’s such widely known of.
“We didn’t have a great result against Leeds United in the competition last year, but the experience of playing in a first-team stadium was brilliant and it’ll be a great experience for all of us again to play at a first-team stadium in The Alexandra Stadium.
“The team is going in the right direction, especially after you look at our recent set of results. We’ve had some great victories recently against Sheffield Wednesday at home, Watford away and Millwall, who are another good team, who we beat 4-1, so we’re on the uprise and we’re going the right way, despite defeat away at Colchester United.
“Crewe are similar to us at the minute as they’ve had some really good results, both home and away, and they’re in good form. They’re a good team, but I think we’ve shown we can beat anyone on our day and I’m one hundred percent confident that we can beat Crewe to progress to the next stage.”
