Hull City U18 Harvey Carew says the team showed great character to come from behind to defeat Millwall 4-1 at Bishop Burton College.
The striker netted a brace for himself and further goals from Oliver Green and Josh Ward secured all three points for the Tigers in the Under 18 Professional Development League.
“I think it was a throughly deserved three points,” said Carew.
“It showed great character to come back from one goal down. No one’s head dropped when Millwall scored and we all carried on and kept pushing forward up the pitch, so it wasn’t as if we dropped back; we continued to carry on pushing forward and attacking the goal.
“At half-time, John (Anderson) and Matt (Hare) told us to keep being positive and not let our heads drop, because even though Millwall were a good side, we knew we could still win the game and get out from under their pressure and thankfully we did that and claimed the three points.”
Speaking on his brace, Carew added: “I’m glad to be on the scoresheet.
“I’ve been starting centrally for a couple of weeks now and I have wanted to be a centre forward, so I’m currently working on that in training, by working on my hold-up play and finishing and I showed it off today.
“It’s my first two goals of the season and they’ll hopefully be more to come.”
