Jordy de Wijs has praised his teammates in black and amber for their start to the 2020/21 season.
The Dutch defender has played in each of Hull City’s four wins so far in Sky Bet League One, and says he is happy with the Tigers’ start.
“So far, we’ve got what we wanted,” he said. “With the four clean sheets too, we couldn’t ask for anything better.
“For the whole team, keeping that 100% record has been important. We work to win games and it’s been nice to get the clean sheets. Now we just need to continue this form and build as much momentum as possible.
“When you get the clean sheets, as a defender that’s what you live for. We’ve got a positive vibe now and we’ve got our confidence back.
“The 100% record sends a statement out to the rest of the teams in this league.
“We know it’s going to get harder as the season progresses. Teams want to score against us so we need to be prepared each week and be 100% ready each game day.”
With Fleetwood Town away next up for the Tigers, de Wijs is targeting another three points to keep the momentum building ahead of a busy October period.
“Against Plymouth, I felt we controlled the game,” said de Wijs. “In the first half they didn’t create too many chances and we could’ve scored four goals in that first half. In the second half we backed off a bit but we still controlled the game and we defended well.
“As a defender, it’s about making sure that one goal is enough to win the game and that’s what we did against Plymouth.
“It’s a busy month but we need to keep focussing. We take on Fleetwood next and we know what they’re about. They’re a good footballing team and they’ve got a mix of young lads and experienced players but we need to focus on ourselves and make the most of our opportunities to make sure we get the win.”
